What is CrossFit Kids/Teens?

CrossFit Kids is not simply a scaled down version of CrossFit, it is entirely CrossFit geared and designed for a special population and the specific developmental needs of children.

CrossFit Kids is the principal strength and conditioning program for many young athletes and the primary P.E. program for many home schools, charter schools. It is used by athletic teams, martial arts schools and many parents that want their kids to grow up healthy, strong and have a life long love of working out thus avoiding the common problems associated with childhood inactivity and obesity.

Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Healthy living requires that our kids push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, jump, effectively and safely regardless of whether or not they play athletics. Athletics is a specialized pursuit. Our goal is to support the specialist, but reward the generalist.

The CrossFit Kids program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for 4 year olds and elite high school athletes. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of our second graders and our high school wrestler differ by degree not kind.

About our Program

As our society moves further away from physical activity both in the school and at home, we see a growing need to incorporate health and fitness into the lives of our kids. By laying a solid foundation of fitness ideals from an early age, we can reduce risk of disease, injury, and build a better future for our young ones.

Since CrossFit is a generalist program, our kids program follows a similar philosophyWe cover the broad skills and movements essential for life and athletics. Improvements in the gym translate directly to better performance on the soccer field as well as the playground, and also in school.

We strive to make fitness fun for kids. Every session includes a warm-up, focus work on a basic athletic movement and or gymnastics skill, a short Workout of the Day, and most importantly (for our younger ones), a game. It’s the same strength and conditioning program that you LOVE but with scaled load, intensity and MORE FUN.

Our CrossFit Kids Program is specifically targeted for children ages 4- 12. Teen classes are targeted for ages 12-15. Classes are capped at 10 kids.

About our Teens Program
Ages 13-15

Our CrossFit Teens Program is designed to take athletes to the next level by teaching them proper body mechanics, techniques, nutrition and flexibility. This is a great general strength & conditioning program for both off-season and in-season training for young growing athletes

Advanced Teens Program Ages 13-15

Advanced Teens will learn the principle lifting techniques using a barbell, pull-ups, rope climbs.  At CrossFit Great Bridge, we place an extra emphasis on form and technique, not permitting our athletes to increase bar loads until they demonstrate ability to master proper form for every movement.  Proper technique is critical to effective strength & power gains without injury.  We know this will benefit the teen in whether they’re training on their own at school or with their friends.

Advanced Teens Strength & Conditioning classes are limited to 10 athletes and are led by a CrossFit Certified Coach   In each class athletes will receive significant one-on-one coaching on the skills and workouts.  All of the workouts are measurable and repeatable which enables the athlete to collect empirical evidence of their strength and fitness gains and track their results.

Requirements – Coach approved to advance into program and have attended CrossFit Teens classes.   Demonstrates proper body mechanics, awareness and listening skills.
